![]() Honestly you should probably just buy the synth that you really think you will like and dive in like you said. I'm not trying to be rude or snarky, I don't even use soft synths (hardware nut). These are just synthesizers after all, some of that magic you want to hear will come with YOU being the one figuring out how to make the sound, at least that's how it happens for me. That really makes no sense at all in the realm of subtractive synthesis. And I am not exactly sure what you mean by "fascinated", I fail to see how you could draw a line between free and not free as the border between fascinating and un-fascinating. The synths on your list aren't what I would classify as "beginner". Because of its simple interface (not sound), Syntorial is a good choice for anyone learning subtractive synthesis IMO, so is the TAL UNO (this one is just great for anyone not just beginners), and a couple others mentioned here. You got some excellent ones, and not just mine. That being said, I can't help myself but I haven't heard a free synth yet with a sound which fascinated me.Well, you said you wanted suggestions for beginners. Diva makes noises, zebra goes out of tune, massive shuts down after 20 minutes but I think the restrictions allow them to be tested, playing with presets.īecause I would buy a synthesizer afterwards anyway - why not just start with this one and dive very deep into and get familiar with it? You have to buy it to see if you get with it.Ībout waiting: you could use the time to download the demos and try the synths: largo has a 30 days totally functional demo, the same for fabfilter twin. Omnisphere, I don't know if it's worth, it doesn't has a demo. Kontrol S keyboards also apply for crossgrade, if you are considering expending 500 on Omnisphere plus midi keyboard then a Kontrol S for 500-600 might be an option for you (they come with a bunch of instruments: massive, monark, Prism, IMO that package is good value). If you want komplete cheap, you could get Reaktor 5 or Kontakt second hand (usually go for 99) and crossgrade to Komplete when they have the Komplete 50% sale in summer. I want to start asap.Nope, komplete doesn't go on sale on black friday usually, only individual instruments. One further question to the black friday: Do all the publisher go for discounts usually or just a few? Would omnisphere then be worth the expensive price? What do you think about Dune II ?ĭoes that 50% discount come for NI Komplete too? Would be only 250$ then :o I know a lot of you recommend it but english is not my mother tongue as you already have noticed, I'm afraid that something goes wrong with the license transfer. I just listened to the presets to get an overview what is possible in the end / what it sounds like, the personal character of the synth.Īs I said I want to really dive deep into it and stick with that synth. I would recommend other cheap ones: FAW Circle, great to learn on Fabfilter twin2, also great to learn on waldorf largo, great sound and different Massive, good enough and in black friday NI has a 50% sale.Īlmost all those synths have demos anyway so it's not that hard to make up your mind. Zebra, great price for what it is but may be a little bit advanced for you. Omnisphere, expensive, very expensive and no demo. ![]() Serum, good but uses to much CPU for its sound, unlike Diva I don't think it's CPU use is justified. that way you save money.ĭiva, great sound and simple, will probably be my first choice among this options. So you want a complex synth to use presets? Really I think syntorial is a better investment, wait for black friday he normally discounts it 25%, and maybe llok for the synth you like second hand, at marketplace. I know syntorial comes with primer but after listening through the presets I don't feel that primer is going to be what I am looking for - it looks pretty limited and basic. I have done the demo and I really love it, but I can't afford spending 120$ for a tutorial since I had to buy a midikeyboard, my daw and now looking for a really appealing synthesizer.
